Help with Digital Images

Is it possible to increase the number of pixels in a picture. It's not a photo, if that matters at all. I want to make it into a poster, but the minimum requirement for that is 300 pixels/inch and this one is 72.

I've heard that Photoshop will work, but increasing pixels while increasing dimensions sounds like an impossible task, but I just want confirmation.

yes you can increase the DPI of a picture in photoshop.

there are plugins to enlarge photos to poster size, not sure how well they work though.
