    New PC build

    A buddy of mine wants to build anew PC. Can you guys recommend some good hardware. He's looking at a EVGA 680i A1 MB. I havent did any research on it yet. So help a brotha out and give me some good advice

    well it was a good thread..just didn't exactly have a givin amount for a budget like I asked for before offering suggestions.. and in that case of 1500 follow my choices

    Thats about 1250 right there, plus Vista Home premium can be had for 112 bucks more if you need it, that still gives you room for a case and CD/DVD drives.

    Could drop down to the next CPU and a different PSU, plus springing a bit more for a 8800GTX card, but that wouldnt be a bad system there for gaming.

    i would look strongly at a quad core for the same amount of money, assuming you are willing to overclock some and the mobo supports it, it would really help on some software.

    what are the main uses of this PC ?

    I agree quadcores are more future proof.

    Will he overclock it or keep it stock?

    Quad cores are nice, I sure as hell want one. But for a casual user with some gaming I would rather have a higher clocked dual core cpu.

    Ya, same here....I'm running my C2D E6600 at stock and it's still more than enough horsepower for anything out there.
