I have been having a problem with my cable modem (Motorola SB 5100) losing the internet signal. I have Comcast cable which enters my house in is split in my garage. One split goes directly to my home office (the other goes to the television sets in my home) and enters another splitter in my office. From there it goes into my cable modem and computer (to view cable in my desktop). My problem is that the internet signal to the cable modem is frequently lost. I never lose the signal to the video portion of the cable. This is frequently resolved when I connect the cable modem directly to the cable entering my office (from the wall). I suppose this allows “capture” of the internet signal. Going through the hassles of disconnecting the cable from the splitter and then reconnecting after the signal capture can be annoying.
I installed a "Motorola signal booster" before the first cable split and this has seemed to have helped the situation but I still lose the signal in the mornings.
Comcast, as you can imagine, is useless in offering any help. Any suggestions from this forum would be greatly appreciated.
