Post MASTER BOOT RECORD DAMAGE HELP

My computer running Win98. And when ever i try to shut it down, it will go into frozen status instead of showing message "windows is shutting down" and auto power off after that. I ran the Norton Ultilities and it told me that my Master Boot Record (Or something in that nature) has error. How do i fix it without reformatting hardrive. Right now, I have to hit the power switch to turn cpu off and have to run scandisk when turn cpu back on because of the unproperly shut down the computer. thanks.

Or run a setup of windows over top your windows you have in now. That should reinstall it. GoodLuck!
