Generic Host Process for Win32 Services

Okay, I better make this quick before the error occur's again! (EDIT - Alright then, it already has so I'll write the rest of this in WordPad...)

So after about 1-20 mintues of going online I get the error: "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" followed by my internet being disconnected without the ability to get back online until I restart my computer. Another weird thing that happen's is that my Windows goes all... old-skool for a few seconds. The menu bars loose their shiny effect and go all grey.

This is pretty infuriating and I can see there are actually loads of other people suffering from the same thing. In fact, I looked at the other thread and followed some of the instructions (downloaded Ad-Aware, SpyBlaster, SpyBot Search) and managed to get rid of a few suspicious things (AdWare removed several 'worms') but still the problem remain's.

Please help me sort out this nightmare! I tried downloading the 'HiJack' but couldn't seem to get up the info I need. It said I had unzipped the file but then nothing else happened. Could you please tell me exactly how to retrieve it?

I've downloaded the first 2 things but don't know how to do a Microsoft update or how to reboot my PC! Will rebooting my computer delete anything?

Oh god, I wasn't sure whether 'reboot' meant the same thing as 'restart'. How embarassing...

Ah, finally able to post again! I followed your advice and, would you believe, I haven't seen the error again!! The bad news was it was replaced with an equally bad problem - the abilty to surf the web but not being able to type ANYWHERE, certain things not showing up and the message: "Done, but with errors on the page" written in the corner of the screen.

So I was generally like: "oh **** it" until I tried ditching IE and getting Firefox2 and it seem's, touch wood, things have worked out.

There is one last thing though. Now when I try to run basic things such as the help option in my Windows, I get an error message saying I don't have: MSIMG32.dll, and won't let me continue. Do you know what's up with that?

Your missing some Windows files, you need to insert your XP cd into one of your cdroms and go to start - run and type sfc /scannow this will replace any missing or corrupt system files.

I actually can't seem to find my XP disc anywhere. Is there anything I can do?
