Exclamation I'm seeing access point appear briefly and then disappear for a long time.

I have Intel P3 and D-Link USB Wireless Network Adapter.

    Computer System:

    Microsoft Windows XP
    Pro Edition
    Service Pack 2

    Router:
    Product Name: SpeedTouch 780
    Software Release: 6.1.4.3

Number of computers in the LAN: 2 constantly working (USB and Ethernet), 1 with a problem (Wireless).

    Problem Outline:

I can only use ethernet connection but I'm seeing access point appear briefly and then disappear for a long time.
My connection used to work (2-3 days ago) for maximum 30 minutes then I used click 'Repair' and it worked for another 30 minutes, now it's barely ever visible.
There is a red cross X at the window start taskbar and when mouse rollover it will popup msg saying wireless connection unavailable. When I right-click it and click view available wireless network with my wireless router on, no connection is available.

My router detects the adapter at all times tho as you can see it's inactive:

    Home Network
    WLAN Interface Wireless
    WLAN: BeBox
    (54Mbps) -->
    Inactive DesktopUnknown-00-11-5b-67-b7-5a

I've looked all over the net for solution but nothing worked. yet.
Below are the things I've tried:

    * Downloaded and installed Netstumbler. It sees wireless access point most times but there is no connection to it.

    * Set up my router to use channel 1 instead of default channel 6 (in case my it's my neighbours).

    * IP settings are set to auto detect.

Somehow I've got a feeling its going to one of them threads without an answer after I've tried everything..
