Um well im in a pretty big neighborhood but all of them are old people so i dunno who does are doesnt. I know some other people that do and they havent said anything about it. A lot of people have said that it could be the modem so im really taking that side for now.
Hmm.. Definitely the modem then if no one has said anything about their service assuming that they had the same ISP and Modem.. but I mainly say around your area is because usually when the problem lies out in the field area (not at your house but the line itself) everyone inside the line which is usually most people in your area will have the same problem as you.. well just go ahead and tell them that you need your modem replaced.. once you get your replacement you should be good to go.. just sit back for a bit and see if it continues to do the same thing.. if it continues to do the same thing it's one of 2 things.. a problem on their end.. or a problem on your end.. which would bring us to the line problem..
Yeah i really really hope its not a problem on my end! Cause that would me spending money that i dont have. But when they said they checked the lines remotely they said all the lines look fine so i dunno?
I mean like it was working great for like 2 days last weekend then crapped out again so they came out and put a splitter on the line outside and it worked for a little better again then started messing up again.
Cause when it messes up the internet light will turn red (not the dsl) then in will go out and the dsl light will flash green and i guess reset? but then the light will go red and then green and so on and so forth.
I had that problem with my modem.. they fixed the line it worked fine for a couple days then crapped out.. as for me though it just kept resetting itself... the light on DSL would be red.. or there'd be no internet light so yeah.. well just go ahead and get the replacement and set it up again and the likes.. be sure it's not near any electronics.. well mainly those heavy duty ones.. like tv's.. crt monitors.. the computer itself.. well anything that'd use up a good sum of power.. just be sure to place it at least a foot away from all other electronics as sometimes this can interfere and 'cause such problems..
Well thanks man i appreciate all the help i'll get it replaced and see what happens and i'll keep you all up to date. This site has really helped out alot and i thank all of you again for all your help!
well i didnt find anything that popped out at me too much on those. Im just waiting now for the tech guy we had that came out before to call me back. Cause he gave us his cell number. But If he doesnt call back by tonight im just gonna sbc and ask them just give me lvl2 and let me talk to them about getting a new modem
lvl2? man you're lucky I had to go to level 3 with verizon to get my modem replaced.. well even if it didn't apply to you it's still some useful info for the future..
No problem.. Although I wasn't the only one who tried to help.... although I'd suggest just posting another thread in case another thing comes up as well you'll usually get a faster reply from that.. but even then you'll learn more because usually people will come up with different answers and they usually tend to tell the reason why it happens.. it's the best way to learn.. but you can keep in touch with me through pm's if ya want.. although you'll usually find me in the general discussion board. gaming and console gaming area.. hehe..
Yeah true so thanks to all. Im having ANOTHER tech guy come out today and he better give me a new modem. If that doesnt fix the problem (me preparing for the worst) then im going to try maybe cable for 5 bucks more a month. Im not sure yet so. Again thanks for all the help!
I'd say cables even worse.. well I guess that depends on your area... Cable is just a lan really.. so if your neighbours have cable as well.. and they use it up heavily.. be prepared to have cable at dial up speeds.. you can get your own line but it'd cost extra.. that's the only problem with cable.. of course it varies on the area..
did he replace the modem, or try a new one I couldn't decipher from your prev. post? If he never then tell them you would like your modem replaced or your considering a new provider, I had the same issue but with cable and it was the modem. I know how frustrating this problem is.
Well im in a pretty average neighbor hood. I mean im pretty sure we dont have squirells or anything like that. I told the guy that it could possibly be the modem and he's like well lets just check out the wires and everything. He didnt offer a new modem. But that is for sure my next step in this whole ordeal!
I mean my neighborhood is the opityme (sp) of what you see in a commercial for there product. I mean we have train tracks in our back yard but that cant be it?
I mean im getting to the point to where if it isnt the modem i cant possible think of anything else it could be?
Cause im having these intermitten problems at least 2-4 times a night when i get home from school and i know it does screw up during the day when im home on Saturday.
I mean it would be different if i was just a casual surfer or something but dammit this kids gotta play WoW and be able the roam the internet as easy as pie but oh no no SBC wont allow that!
But again thanks for all the help. All of your advice is truly helpful and I do appreciate all of it.
If you wanna know more about it so we could answer all of these questions a little easier feel free to add me to your messenger
