    Question My Speed is Decreasing????

    I have just signed up ATT DSL service, (1.5mpbs) It supposed to be activated yesterday, but they activated it today. I am using Standart DSL modem Speedstream 4100.

    My problem is while I am checking the modem's connection information I see my connection speed as 448Kbps instead of 1.5mbps.

    Connection Information screen is like this;

    DSL UP
    Connection UP
    User ID xxxxxx@sbcglobal.net
    Connected at 448 Kbps (downstream)
    352 Kbps (upstream)

    I am calling and complaining but they are just saying turn off and on your modem, delete cookies bla bla bla.

    What should I do?

    With DSL, the further away you are from the phone company's central office (CO in industry lingo), the slower your connection will be. Now in some cases phone companies have equipment they can install on their lines to help boost the signal, but there's still no way to guarantee that you'll be able to achieve top speed. There's a good chance that 448Kbps may be all your able to achieve.
