well thats it ! I have 3 pc's on my home network here and I kept IE 5.0x on 2 of the boxes and IE 5.5 on the 3rd box,I have to say that 5.0x outperforms 5.5 in speed for sure.I think 5.0x is a faster version.I put 5.0 back on the other box.I tried this test for several months.
I couldn't agree more crazyman! IE5.5 is garbage. I really think they have some major things to work out. My big problem were that it doesn't hold settings like 5.01 and the OE htat is included in the installer never was able to recieve from my POP mailboxes properly. It would never connect at start up the first time. I always had to kill the process and the open IE and then try to send/recieve. Maybe after a SP they will get the kinks out but what else is there.... on the Win32 platform. Mozilla 6 Ya Right. Thats even worse
This is definate, it's all over the board on Deja & usenet, IE5.5 has some problems loading and such, it usually on a P2 300 system it took 10-15 seconds longer to load than IE5, I can't see the improvements, how about anyone else?
Got to go with Prey. I was sold on 5.1 until I went to W/ME. For some reason they run really well together on my machines. (with a little help from the speedguide patch)
I have to say 5.1 too. After fixing 5.5 in windows was a pain to do so didn't go back 5.1. But thinking about it.
I was more in fear of loosing my OutLook Express email's have tons of stuff I didn't want to loose reinstalling. Close to 3,000 email's I still haven't even read yet. Ok now down to 1,9700 deleted for a couple hours.
Hey Southern Belle, when I converted back to 5.0,I first "restored the previous windows configuration" which put it back to IE4,then I upgraded that to 5.0,my point is this though, even through all that,my outlook express kept all my e-mail settings and
e-mails.I did not lose anything,it will work just fine for you.
