My computer cannot be pinged by others

My laptop is LANed. I can ping other computers and access shared folders from them but they cannot see me as well as my shared folders.

The windows firewall is turned off and I use no personal firewalls at all.

Anybody could help me resolve this issue?

Netowrk DDE and Network DDE DSDM services are on?

should still be able to ping it though. Lappy is on wireless? Maybe set to be separate from wired connections in the router?

It can be pinged...it's just not replying.

First question...does it have an IP address within the range of your network?
Are you pinging via name, or IP address?

It is not on wireless. Its IP address is in the range of the network. I pinged it by IP address.

About DDE and DDE DSDM. I don't think they are the causes because a desktop in the same network can still be pinged although it has the two services disabled.

I tried running WinSockFix but the problem still persists. The laptop still doesn't reply to pings.

Is it some possible spyware that causes this problem?

Sounds like you are firewalled - any vpn client? Which AV package(reaching with this one)? They sometimes have firewall-like features.
