Cheney 'Authorized' Libby to Leak Classified Information

    SNIP

...Libby also indicated what he will offer as a broad defense during his upcoming criminal trial: that Vice President Cheney and other senior Bush administration officials had earlier encouraged and authorized him to share classified information with journalists to build public support for going to war. Later, after the war began in 2003, Cheney authorized Libby to release additional classified information, including details of the NIE, to defend the administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case for war...

    END SNIP

A legal source involved in the case tells CNN that Libby did not testify to and has never suggested that anyone in the administration -- including Cheney -- authorized disclosing the name of CIA agent Valerie Plame.
His lawyer, William Jeffress, told The Associated Press, "There is no truth at all" to suggestions that Libby would try to shift blame to his superiors as a defense against the charges.

    Hmmmmmm, so whom to believe?

Definitely some controversy. I think I will withhold judgment regarding the Vice-President until I hear a little more.

It's been suggested on several fronts that indeed, it was Cheney who first suggested outing Plame...

    We'll see..

That said, who here, actually believes that Libby would take this all on his own to accomplish? It's a given that Cheney has always been a vindicative fellow. Along with his running mate.

Thats certainly possible man, but with only one site that I know of confirming it was Cheney I still have my doubts. Something tells me alot more news sites would post this stuff confirming it also had they had the same info.

    We shall see.

It's a little more than one news site...

Agreed that most just take their news from where ever they can get it.

My second post, was in relation to the Plame case and not the story as a whole. The investigation into who outed her is still ongoing.

It wouldnt surprise me if Cheney did tell him to do that that is for sure. I still can't believe I voted for President Bush and Cheney in 2000. I corrected my mistake in 2004 though.
