My friend's iRiver crashed...

...he was listening to it, and all of the sudden it just turned off, and he tried to turn it back on, but it won't turn on. And he JUST bought it a few days ago too. I searched Google for an answer but didn't find anything. Then I thought: maybe the SGers know how to fix it.

I would appreciate any suggestions. TIA.

what model? can you take out the battery and make sure it's fully charged? if he just got it, he can always take it back for a new one, if he can't get it working.

It has an internal battery and he ordered it online, so he's going to try to return it. But it just sucked that his iRiver got so owned. Btw, he tried recharging the battery (although the battery was at FULL life when the iRiver crashed) but it wouldn't even charge.

Whenever handheld stuff freezes on me I just take batt. out and its fixed. Since he cant do that, Id say ship it back.....not much you can do unless it has a reset feature on it

Yep... I had two Creative devices that just crashed. They were just out of the warranty so I was screwed.

Call the manuf. ASAP.

That'd be 'bricked'. Sending it back is all you could have done. It seems some people have had issues with the 1.28 firmware, so if he recently upgraded to that, it could have been the cause. It's why I'm staying at 1.27 for now...

Sucks to lose a DAP. iRiver's pretty good with warranty service from what I hear, so he should be fine when dealing with them.
