Need some input on tweaking with new upgrade and router

    TCP properties for IP = xx.xxx.xxx.xxx ()
    Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
    TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402
    MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
    MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
    Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
    513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
    256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
    128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
    Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 51 hops

    TTL value is ok.
    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

    WINXP SP2
    Comcast Cable: 6000/768 Upgrade
Set to FORCE 100 FULL DUPLEX
    New Linksys ETHERFAST BEFSR41 4-Port VER. 4
no known firmware upgrades on linksys site.

well since i posted that i contacted linksys because when i first did all my setup of the router to getting the connection i had a pretty big drop in up and downstream... and it was like that for hours. but then i tried a hard reset of the router and redid all of the setup. but much more throughly. and it seems now i'm recieving a nice increase in downstream and my upstream is in it's usual speed. which is ok. but i did notice an increase. i'll post what i was recieving earlier and what i'm recieving now.

    (earlier after first setup)
Your download speed : 1971931 bps, or 1925 kbps.
    A 240.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 412910 bps, or 403 kbps.

    (as of right now)
    2005-04-16 06:37:28 EST: 7537 / 712
Your download speed : 7718615 bps, or 7537 kbps.
    A 942.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 730015 bps, or 712 kbps

They also suggested turning my MTU to 1492 rather than 1500.

i would leave mtu to 1500 why they said 1492 is kinda odd imho because cable doesn't need you to authenicate to use the connections that's where the 8 bits are used for authenication from the mtu 1500. Did you do the manual ip setup on the comptuers with the linksys techs???

    yeah, i did the manual.
i didn't want to even touch the "setup cd".

but it was a waste of time talking to the reps.
cause all i did instead was do a hard reset of the
router by holding the reset button for
    30 secs while connected
    30 secs unplugged
    30 secs with connection
and i just kept my mtu at 1500.

    and everything worked out finally.
