    Post Help with RR!

Hi, I got RR today and while yes pages load a little faster i download at anywhere from 5-20 kps. Also my ping in half-life is only about 250 or so. Any help would be great.

Have you applied the appropriate patch yet?

As for latency, conduct and post a couple of tracerts to game servers/web sites.

I installed the win98 patch, it didnt seem to do anything I hit install and it didnt give me a installing message or anything. And also how do I preform a tracert? I also have AOL installed currently, if that may have an effect on it.

Get rid of AOL. Go to your dos prompt and type

    tracrt www.speedguide.net

or some other site. Look at the times at each hop. If the times shoot up really high while still in the road runner network then you should call them and ask them to fix it.

It's not supposed to, it just modifies your registry. Once installed, rebooting is required for changes to take place.

    Start | Run | command <enter> | tracert x
    where x = IP/web address

To output to disk (makes it easier to copy/paste into browser):
    tracert x y:/path>filename.txt
    where x = IP/web address and y = drive letter

I dont know exacly how high it should be before worrying so ill post what I got when I traced speedguide.25,8,14,50,42,66,51,75,91,94,79,95. If anyone else has roadrunner please give me your typical D/L speed. 6k doesnt seem right to me.

This is a copy of my log from DSL reports. I sometimes question the accuracy but it is consistent. This is from North East Ohio RoadRunner.

go ahead and do that tracert, the 1st 8 lines will be on the roadrunner server. if there are times over 150ms or 3 or more timeouts (*), then you should deffinatly be calling the tech support number (you will get someone from the road runner national help desk, be patient with them as they go through the steps with you, its all required in order to be sent up to the network specialists, which are the people that will fix your problem. hope this helps out
