LCD Devices: Since flicker is not an issue for LCD products, ViewSonic recommends a refresh rate of 60Hz (75 Hz max).

    From Viewsonics web site...

ok when I look into the advanced properties for the monitor it shows my monitor as a vp201b and its max supported resolution is 1920x1200 and my max refresh rate is 85hz. I can only select 70 hz max though.

The recomended 60 is right off viewsonics website.
Refresh is flicker on a CRT, there is no flicker on an LCD therefore refresh is a mute point.
