    Question about Raid 0 ....

So ..... If I were to decide to go with another Raptor , and run Raid ...

How does that work with Ghost images ??

    Anything special ?

Would it be possible to Raid them , then restore an image that was originally on a single Drive ?

Will writing to two drives simultaneously cause the image to be null and void ?

I'm not prepared to do another Fresh Reload right now .... So if I can't restore the image I just created last weekend , then I think I'll go with the extra 512 Ram stick then when I'm ready for another reload I'll throw in the other Drive ....

If I can do it , and would see a better improvment than the Ram would make, then that's the ticket and the Raptor is on order ...

Keep in mind that My image would now have improper PArtioning Sizes ....

Right now I have a 15/55 Split ... Would I need to PArtion them , then do individual Partion restores ?

    dont bother.

I ran raptor 36gig x 2 and I wasnt impressed, so I tried running just one. I was shocked at how little of a difference it made.

To really feel the power of 2 raptorsyou need the ICH5R or newer one on the intel socket 775 boards. With the latest drivers on the highpoint raid chips the performance is pretty good now, but the silicon image chips are still behind.

Yeah ICH6R supports 4 Sata Drives in Raid0.
    Respect it.

Too bad none of the boards lock the agp/pci bus speed as of yet, even though the option is in the bios.

Depends on version of ghost, and what RAID controller you have. I know "in theory", since you're doing hardware RAID (assuming), no software should even see it. But I've seen some cases where is plain just won't work.

I've run 2x 74GB Raptors in RAID0 and liked them a bit. Not much difference than a single but if you need 148Gigs as a main drive and can afford it, go for it for the little extra performance. I will be getting another raptor after my new video card.

i dont know i use ghost all the time on dell servers that have perc raid controller, and never had an issue. We have been working on migrating our servers to vmware so we ghost them, then move them over.

Having had two RAID-0 setups fail from broken stripes would have me a bit leery, lest the performance increase was substantial.

I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.

Wow , In True Speedguide Support you guys came through ....

Thank you all for all of the good input and experience that I lack ...

I believe I will hold off on the other Raptor for now.

Cierra and I may b e moving soon ... If So , then the Extra Ram will be passed up for a couple months worth of High speed internet
