2 way Cable first (cheap speed)
DSL second(when you have a bad cable provider)
anthing else(if there is no other option)

    Hope that helps a bit.

    Cupcake,

Sorry to say, but that's just flat out bad advice.

The answer to the question is..IT DEPENDS ON YOUR AREA!

You need to do the reseach and find other people IN YOUR AREA and see what speeds they are getting.

In some areas cable is better, some DSL is better, it just all depends.

Anyhow, in your case simon, youd have to say what download speeds you are getting now vs what you will on verizon and see if a lower download and change in pricing is worth a higher upload and no need for a modem/telephone for uploading.

Are you in Manhattan? Road runner is doing a big wiring job in Manhattan for 2001.

I'm supprised RCN does not have 2-way. RCN probably offers a good package deal on phone, cable and internet,
but you must insist on having 2-way cable modem.

I'd say DSL, but if Verizon's behind it, give it a second thought. See if a DSL provider offers something without using PPPoE. Verizon does and it's garbage.

Thanx. rcn does have 2 way cable. just not in my area yet. and they can't give me a good answer when they will. i think i'll just stay with the better down speed on cable.

depends on your area. cable is good in some areas and in other dsl is better. It would probably be a good idea to mabe wait a little but, and see how other customers do to the new service, if your not in a rush. User feedback from people in your area that use the service would HELP you make the right descision.

It all depends on your area and provider. You need to do some research. I good place to start is DSLR. They have, among other things, ISP reviews, speed charts that can be broken down by domain/zip, forums covering specific providers/technologies, etc.

I would try to find two way cable. I have also heard bad stories about verizon. Hopefully you wont have problems with them if that is the option you choose.

    Good Luck
