Is this normal?

When I download or open web pages, the modem works in 'bursts.' Fast rates with intermittent pausing. The pause is usually 2 seconds. I know my modem would go much faster without the pauses. They occur during both peak and nonpeak hours. My service is rated at 768kbps down, and I usually get 400 or so average. Tweak tester says I'm tweaked. Online gaming is great, averaging 60-70 ping with some packet loss. Is there anything I can do or is it completely normal and/or out of my hands? Just wanna get what I pay for. I pay 35 a month for 768kbps and in these forums I see a lot of peeps getting 2Mbps for the same price. Lame ;P

What type of connection is this, DSL... ? Anyway no it shouldn't be burpin durring a download it can spike up but it shouldn't be stopping..
What tweak tester did you use give some more info on that.
What OS (operating system)
What tweaks did you use..
can you post the tweak results...
who's the ISP and how do you connect ?????

Oops, I shoulda given some more information... I live in the St. Louis area and use Charter Pipeline service via cable modem. I used the registry patches used on this web site and also the cablenut patch. Here are my tweak results from DSLreports:

Hi go to patch page this site and download and install Vtcp386 Fix patch it will get your RWIN # above 65535 thus faster speed

Thanks for the help. It seems that changing the RWIN value did a lot of good. Web pages load with fewer pauses now

You should be happy, 768kbps here costs $85/month and I pay $50 for 384kbps......
