Video card - is this right? ATI 9800 pro

    Take a look here:

    http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&catoid=-10266

    that is for $399.99

    then look here:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....3&type=product

    for $299.99

plus I got a 10% off anything in store coupon becuase another best buy is opening in the city.

Is that $299 the same one and would that be a good price?

Then don't buy a card at all.

Buying a system for Doom III is futile. You might as well wait until September or October.

Besides...I believe the NVIDIA drivers were tweaked to perform better.

    No.

If you're going to buy top-shelf, then you'd better just bite the bullet and prepare to take it in the ass. If you don't want to pay more, then just get the 128 MB version. It'll work just as well.

    changed my mind going with

    ati radeon 9800 128 PRO

i figured by the time games come out that will need 256, there will be much better cards out there and I will upgrade.

I can get it for $340 at best buy with my 10% off coupon plus tax will come to around $370, so it a pretty good deal.

That's where I got mine. Most of them out there are all the same reference design, and probably built by the same company that makes them for ATI anyways.
