    Is Lexmark complete ****??

My parents have this Lexmark "All-In-One" printer, scanner, fax machine. I can't get it to do anything except print. It won't receive faxes, it won't fekking scan. I get port errors up the wazoo. Yes, I've downloaded latest drivers and am doing things according to the manual. It's the only USB device currently on my system. Is this company just total and utter BS or what?

frankly, yes. don't listen to reps.. these are my fav printer companies (in general, their rankings vary depending on product class in question).

    Canon
    Epson
    hp
    amro.co, github.com/amro

    LexMark must be crap.

Dell gave a client of mine a free LexMark printer because their old laser printer wouldn't work on their new Dell laptop with XP. No available driver, no parallel port on the lappy, and a parallel to usb cable didn't help either.

Rule: You don't give away good printers for free, just crappy ones

I like HP the best. But can't say anything bad about canon, or epson. I have an old canon mulipass 800 with all features still working. It was a freebie from a client. hmmm

This thing is a total and utter piece of crap. It craps out on scanning, can't connect to the computer (though everything is plugged in) and once it hits a malfuction (which it does fast) I have to restart the comp to clear the port. LMAO, burn in hell Lexmark, burn in hell.

USB "virtual printer ports" can be very flakey. I work with an industrial ($12k) printer that uses the same setup and it suffered from the same problem. Any printing error resulted in a complete logjam requiring clearing the que, yanking the USB plug and restarting the printer. We solved this by going to a JetDirect print server...errors are no problem now.

My point here is that I understand your frustration.

Lexmark makes some decent printers, their low-end stuff is just like everybody else's.....low end. I agree with Norm though, HP makes the best printers. I have an HP DJ5550 at home and also use the same model in a commercial setting and it kicks ass. The results are beautiful despite working the printer hard.

Good luck with your Lexmark, I hope you can make good use out of it (other than a door stop). Keep trying.
If it has tits or tires, it's going to give you problems.

Thnaks for the info bud but I think I'm done with this thing. It didn't work on my parents old PC and it won't work on the new one. It's complete garbage IMO and I'm seriously considering borrowing Dino's sledgehammer.

Amro this Lexmark X63 is completely sad. Fax will not work, scanner will not work..it only prints. Scanner beats my photos to a pulp when running them through as well. This product is LAUGHABLE. I'm not a computer noob and I can tell this machine is just RIDDLED with flaws. I spent like all day trying to get it to fax...nothing. It says receiving fax but just hangs and gives me nothing. Scanning gives me all kinds of errors. Mainly USB related errors as it tries to communicate with my PC.

I'm not saying lexmark is any good, but in my experience most of the all-in-wonder printer centers are garbage.

a friend of mine, without seeking my advice, bought a hp allinone machine. He's had nothing but problems. so, he calls me asking him to fix it and i tell him to screw off. i've told him to ask me before he buys and he doesnt, then he'll ask me to fix it for him.

those things are a nightmare. unless you're really low on space, they're a waste.

its all about the laser printers guys.

buy one, and OH MAN FAWKING A, its so great, no problems, change toners every 5-6 months or so, damn their nice.

We bought a laserjet 5000n with the jetdirect, and man is this thing nice, no problems, great machine, does 11x17 too.. We're expecting at least 15 years out of this machine.

    and damn are they fast!!

I only paid $100 for mine after rebates and coupons, but it prints off over 20 pages a minute in draft mode.

it also does a fantastic job on greeting cards. the only thing it doesnt print perfect is pictures, but it was never designed for it. at least not the bw ones. best purchase I made all year, no doubt.

I had an old Canon Bubblejet 610c? I think that is what it was, POS, if you didn't use it for a week, the ink would dry up, then 25$ for a black and 25$ for a color jet.

I was printing out a lengthy report on this thing and the inkjet died, I go to Best Buy and for 15$ more than the two cartridges, I bought an HP deskjet845c, never been happier.
