You need Acrobat. Need Acrobat Reader, but the full blown app. This lets you create pdf's, modify them, make them searcheable, etc.

Isn't there a free alternative, or at least cheaper, to Acrobat? Also, I didn't think a .pdf file was an "Acrobat" file, but a portable document file... Acrobat is just the most popular software for it. Am I wrong?

I've heard mention of an alternative before too- just can't recall what/where. PDF is indeed port doc format, which I believe was originally created by Adobe for Acrobat, so yes- they're what we usually think of when we think of pdf's. But I would imagine any other app. that can write them can use the same extension.

Wish I could think of that other app...... hmm.... oh well- someone will know it!

Cool! Hey, UOD... have you ever used this? Does it work as well as Acrobat? If it does, geez..... 9.95 vs. 199.95 !!!

For a free program..it works GREAT!

I have the full version of Acrobat....the alternative (
    pdf995) is no slouch.

Don't forget that the free open source office suite, Open Office, can in fact save and create .pdf files as well.
