    Please Help with some Questions

Hey just fired this baby up and everything works great just a few minor problems I hope.

-First when I started her up she was at 44 C after 2 hours just idling she is at 46 C what temp should a 2.4 hover at what is good and what is high. Thanks

Also here is how my voltages and stuff read I think some are low. Aren't they? Also what should the cpu core be set at?

    Case Temp =31 C
    CPU temp =46 C
    CPU core voltage =1.45V
    DDR Sdram Voltage =2.59V
    +5V =4.97V
    +12V = 11.61V
    I/O Voltage =3.00V
    VTT Voltage(+1.25V) =1.23V
    VDDQ Voltage(+1.5V) =1.53
    Battery (+3V) =2.86
    Standby (+5)= 4.84

Do you think the Voltages could be low from the misc. I have in the case I have 6 fans(2 of them are trilite fans) 2 cold cathodes LCD screen

I am wondering if this is something I should concern myself with.

    Thanks guys

I dunno, but that psu is a pos. That 12v rail don't look good at all. Also 46c is too hot. I advise you to reapply AS3 and reseat the hsf. That case temp don't look good either. You have an airflow issue bud. Those fans are just pushing hot air around the box.

Don't want you to think i'm insulting you about that psu, but that 12 rail is extremely low.

46c seems kinda high at 1.5v. give me some other specs....what hsf? what board? what proc(2.4a or b)? and where are u getting those numbers from? LT is right ur 12v is crap and u will not have much luck o/c'g that bad boy.

Ah, nevermind, I saw the link.

ABIT boards always read temperatures high, but especially on that board. My IT7 board read the CPU temp anywhere from 6 to 10 degrees higher than I knew it was, since I used a thermal probe to test it out. If you've applied Arctic Silver and got a fan working over it, I wouldn't sweat it.

I had an Antec True550 that had similar rail voltages and I never had any instability, but it could've just been a lucky anomaly.

Yea but wonder why the both rails are low? I mean I know the ps is generic but damn this was brand new from newegg comes with the Chieftec/Chemning Aluminum Case.

But you think them temps are ok? Ya think the board is just reading temps high?

Also could it be from the excess lights and stuff? Anything else I should check?

I wouldn't worry at all about the temps. The rails are a different problem though, and if you have a cheap PSU I think it'd be a good investment to get a higher quality one; I view having low rails on a quality PSU being much better than low rails on a cheap brand. Of course, the more stuff you put in your system, the higher the chances are you'll see rail drops.

My Antec True550 never moved from 11.56, and I was using a fully-loaded system and had zero problems. My +5v rail was at just below 5 as well, so our specs in that respect are similar. Unless you start noticing problems or get weird errors, don't sweat it.

I guess what I wanna ask is will it hurt to run the system like this? What are the consequences? Will they come without warning?

Like I said, I ran my system on similar rails for months and I never experienced a single anomaly or problem. I would think that the only real issue would be obvious stability problems, which you could then trace back to the low rails.

Can someone point me in the direction of a good ps for my system? Preferably in the 50-60 dollar range?

    Specs are in first thread.

BTW I haven't ran anything yet(i.e. software apps)but have booted at 2.9 ghz and ran windows completely fine. That is a good sign right.

But basically your saying unless I see a decline from what what psu is running right now it should be alright?

You need to get everything setup software-wise and run all your normal apps, games, etc. You can't get an overall picture just by overclocking and seeing if it boots. Testing stability in Windows and in applications is just as important as getting the clock speed higher.
