Why is it that WiFi speedtests results are always so much different?

Situation: Asus router RT-AC88U (fiber connected, 500Mbps) Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 WiFi Using 2 different apps Tablet is just 1 meter away from the router Ssignal is strong Run each app twice, immediately one after the other. Later Restored a clean Windows XP, without any drivers, whatever. Absolutely clean. Then Firefox v26 + flashplayer (without Flash Player the speedtest would not run) Speedtest was bad Then flash player for IE, launched IE Speedtest was okay. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/150x100q90/c/844/ixb2.png...

Weird problem: FttH-Speed heavily jumping up and down but then again . . .

... the speed is as straight as a line with only XP (or Windows 7) installed, i.e. without any other stuff. I have been trying to solve this issue spending many, many hours over the last couple of weeks. Up front, 1 XP and 1 Windows 7 - PC Both same problems. It is about fiber, 300Mbps up/down. Bott...
