Re: New PC build
It definitely is a budget build. I didn't even know you could get some of those components for so little. For what you need it for it should do the job. I don't see why you need/want such a powerful video card for those tasks. But for those tasks you should be good.

Is anyone here using them? I've been doing some research but as far as I can see I really don't see the need for them. At this point in time I'm using bitwarden and only on my PC. I don't do any banking from my phone or other devices. I'm sure there might be an increase in security but for how I acc...

Re: No Coffee
Trust me, it's not easy for me. I spent the last 35 years of my life drinking as least 3-4 cups a day. I love coffee. But I started to realize that it had control of me, I didn't have control of it. Unfortunately for me there's just no happy medium. I've quit for 2 or 3 months several times. I get t...

Re: No Coffee
It's not really a health/benefit issue with me. It's just more of an addiction issue. I just ask myself "why is this something you can't seem to quit"? So I've decided to go for a while without. I will tell you one thing though... the first cup of coffee after not drinking any for a couple...

Re: Personal Finance Software?
I find it useful to use spreadsheets, write notes in Notepad, etc. Sometimes there is little benefit of being squared into some third-party software that only partly serves your needs. I've been slowly creating some spreadsheets that seem to be working. I just leave myself some room to add a few li...

No Coffee
It's been almost 4 months since my last cup of coffee. I didn't stop for any particular reason other than I thought that after about 40 years of drinking several cups every day it was about time to take a break. I have to tell you though, about every 2 weeks I'll have a day where I just want a cup o...

Personal Finance Software?
Before I start designing several spreadsheets I wanted to find out if there are any free or standalone (pay) personal finance apps (for PC)? I don't want anything cloud based. I'd like something where I can keep my monthly/yearly budget numbers along with tracking my investments. I'd like to downloa...

Re: These gas prices sure do hurt
EV's haven't really appealed. Probably for all the usual reason that you hear i.e. range, charging times, resale value. Then the price of a home charger including installation. Then... if you decide to go ack to internal combustion you have this charger on your garage wall that is of no use. One of ...

The ThermalTake should work. Any of the equivalent wattage Corsair models would be a good choice and if you're going to hang onto it I believe Corsair is a solid product.

I'm getting a lot of Spam
I should be thankful since for virtually my entire computer life I have avoided email spam. Up until a year ago I might get 1 every other week. Now I must be on someone's list because I'm getting 5-10 a day to my primary account. I feel I'm overly cautious when it comes to computer security and best...

Got it installed and running. It gave me a couple of problems but I think it was because it wasn't seated correctly. Once I played with it the yellow bios light went out and we're good to go. Bios and windows both recognize the new memory. Hurray!

Nothing huge, I had been given an Amazon gift card for the holidays and I wanted to spend it on something I've always wanted to do but never pulled the trigger on. I've got a few things to do this morning and will be installing it later this afternoon.

I haven't loaded it up yet. As soon as I do I'll let you know. I did have it installed about 6 months ago but I wasn't using it to view YT and it's just been recently that they've changed their commercial/advertisement policy.

First fire (fireplace) of the season
It's nowhere as cold here in So Cal as it is in other parts of the country but we decided to have our first fire while Mrs. Easto decorated the tree and the front room. It looks like I'm going to need to make another run to the firewood supplier. Last year I got too much hardwood and it's not really...

It's starting to look like the prices are starting to go back up again. It also appears that many vendors only had a limited about of stock at those prices.

One thing I've noticed is that many of the items are sold out. Even a Samsung SSD I was looking at (2tb for $119) wasn't even available at Samsung. But I think you're right. The deals are all what we're seeing now. I think they're only going to go up from here.
