Well, my modem has a built in router so it's not separate. I used to be able to change my IP address easily with a linksys router but my ISP, WideOpenWest, recommended this to my dad and of course my dad wouldn't deny tips of an "Expert". I used to be able to change the mac address via router, 192.168.2.1, which changed my IP instantly. Now.......I can't change it at all. I tried this one method where I saved settings, changed the mac address, then loaded it but the IP changes only for about 10 seconds and then goes to what it was before I did the whole settings thing. I tried leaving it off for about a couple hours but that didn't change anything plus it seems like it would be to annoying to change it like that. Can someone help me on finding a fast and easy way to change my IP address.

I have Arris TM552
Firmware Version: 1218
Boot Version: 2.03
Hardware: TM552

TL;DR I can't change my IP address with my new router no matter how many times I try.

I recently bought a Belkin N+ router to connect to the Arris modem provided by Comcast. The modem itself is definitely connect to the internet; I have plugged the Ethernet cable directly into my computer and connected to the internet. And for a while, the connection was transferred to my router and wireless network. It worked for a few days, but then something happened and these two lights, the 'Modem' light and 'Internet' light, began to flash. Now I can no longer connect to the network, and, through the router, cannot access the internet. What gives?

Hi to all

I am considering buying a Dell Laptop & am seeking some expert opinions to do so, as i have no clue having never owned one. This is not an urgent thing with me just something i want to look into and don't know where to start.

Due to poor eyesight i need a 17 inch screen with a very clear picture and text, that much i know. A lighted keyboard is also a must. Weight is not an issue.

My target price is approximately a $1000.00 CDN. as i live in Canada and would have to purchase here.

Would like something that will last into the future re performance and specs. I mostly use my comp. for surfing and stuff but would like to be able to do a bit of gaming and perhaps photo stuff as well.

32 bit...64 bit...Windows 7 Premium, Pro or Ultimate...Extended Warranties, etc are where i am hoping you'll be kind enough to point me in the right direction along with any good deal coupons you may know of to keep prices down.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

---
regards

Sam's a Newfie mutt? About 3 or 4 probably, adopted him before he was going to go to rescue in another country as he was due to be put down here. He literally walked into the store I work at, and went home with me a few hours later. He's my 24/7 outdoor dog that guards the ~1 acre fenced yard with my garden and fruit trees, plus the back acre field, and my neighbors' gardens and fruit trees. Mostly deer and bear, at least a few skunks.

I need to setup a network in which my PC and my router (the rest of my network) gets 2 ips from my ISP. I do get 2 ips from my ISP already so I just need to know what equipment I need for my internal network to communicate properly with my stand-alone pc. I've already got my router, PC, and modem directly connected to a switch so I get 2 IPs, but the file transfers between my router connected pc and my directly connected pc are extremely slow. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!!

A source close to the British Labour Government has just given me reliable information about the most radical copyright proposal I've ever seen.

Secretary of State Peter Mandelson is planning to introduce changes to the Digital Economy Bill now under debate in Parliament. These changes will give the Secretary of State (Mandelson -- or his successor in the next government) the power to make "secondary legislation" (legislation that is passed without debate) to amend the provisions of Copyright, Designs and Patents Act (1988).

What that means is that an unelected official would have the power to do anything without Parliamentary oversight or debate, provided it was done in the name of protecting copyright. Mandelson elaborates on this, giving three reasons for his proposal...
