can't make ftp server behind router

hey hey guys... I'm having trouble redoing a test server using serv u ftp on my computer. I'm running windows 2000 pro using cable connection running through a linksys befsr11 router. The setup in serv-u ftp is very simple and easy to follow yet when I try and connect to the ftp, it's as if it doesn't exist.

I've forwarded the port i want to use and set that up in the serv-u software... also giving it my internet IP address but still no joy. I've done it before so I have no idea what I'm diong wrongthis time.

That is odd. I would try using Port Trigger rather than forwarding.

Also make sure you specify 20 and 21. Try that first and then, if you need, use a different port for your FTP server.

Also, when YOU try to connect, are you specifing the external or internal IP? That being your router's IP or the NATed one.

thanks for the help... but I found a solution.

if anybody else has this problem then follow this online guide. Gives methods for linksys routers and different ftp serving programs.
