How do I disable MSN Messenger in XP?

Anyone have any ideas? I hate the icon in my tray.

Just use XP Anti-Spy (http://www.xp-antispy.de/), it will stop MSN Messenger from loading and a few other nice things.:) :D

grr steele now when i boot i get an error saying "POProxy.exe failed to start because MSVCP50.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem!! *shoots steele in the butt with a lightning bolt*:p

whew i fixed it. put in the cd and found that file. copied it into antivirus folder. :D

POProxy.exe is part of NAV, removing or disabling MSN Messenger shouldn't have any effect on it.:)

Thanks. Since all the text is in Dutch(?) is there an FAQ for this spy sw? What else can I get rid of safely?

OK cool. I'm a bit confused though. If it has a green arrow is it disabled or does it stay? Some have a red exclamation point, then if I click on that I get a check box. Do I check to get rid of it or uncheck??? Maybe dumb ?'s but I have the flu :)
