View Full Version : Skywatch
Early Sunday morning the crescent moon, Mars, and Venus will be in a tight cluster.

If the sky is clear, I'll be out there with a camera.
I'll check that out in the AM as I'm always up that early anyway. Too bad it's not next week as I have an adapter on order for my Meade ETX60-AT scope that I have had for over a year and never used!
Next time. But, I'll check it out in the morning and see what a regular lens can do for it. If there's no fog that is...
Thanks for the heads up.
Well, here's the best I can do considering I don't have a remote shutter control yet (have to manually press shutter) so there is some camera movement, but it's not horrible, especially cropped down to 800x600 ;)
Shot with a 70-300 zoom at 300. ISO1000 at 1.5 seconds. I tried lower ISO's but the camera movement was horrible. Anyway, was pretty cool to see the three like this. Next event I'll have my telescope setup! :D

Good one. I was expecting to see them closer together, though.
I can't force a long exposure with my digital. I really don't like trying to shoot with a camera that thinks it's smarter that I am.
I used film. I'll get "develop only" today and scan the best frame tonight. Couldn't include Mars with a 600 so I used a 300. ASA 200 film, f8, various exposures, cable release, and autowinder. Forgot to lock the mirror up.
I'll see what I've got later today. I'll lay the film out on a light table and make my selection with a 8X loupe.
Cool. SHould look better than my oblong Mars! ;)
Damn! My film scanner isn't working.
Anyway, I don't think I got as much shadow detail as you did.
