Hi, I have been able to successfully set-up a game for my daughter on my computer. But we try and play the game and I get an error message:
"Your computer is below the minimum system requirements (8MVRAM) for this game" It only allows me to click OK and exits.
Does anyone know of maybe a configuratrion change or is it time for a video card ?:(
OS is W2K SP3, system is a Dell Optiplex 400MGHz
Yup time to pic up a cheep vid card what game is it?

A video card with more ram will help, you need to go to Dell's site and look up the specs for your pc.
Video cards come in two flavors, AGP slot and PCI slot versions.
Almost all pc's have PCI slots (except very old ones), not every pc has an AGP slot for video.

Is either type better, speed wise of efficiency ? AGP or PCI
The Dell is a mid-year 1999 model. It does have both, the current card listed is AGP. I also have about 396 MG of RAM.

go into device manager, and set your paging file really high or no max limit.
I recently had the same trouble with an "I Spy" cd-rom game for my youngster, and i had to set my paging file to an enormous amout to run this little game :rolleyes:

AGP is better. It's made just for video.
AGP = Accelerated Graphics Port
might wanna look in to a geforce 2 should suit your needs and not brake the bank

Yeah a basic older GeForce 2 model at best, or even an entry level Radeon like a 7000 or so. Don't go too crazy on the video card, your system won't have a power supply with enough juice to drive the latest and best vid cards. I'd say a 16 meg or 32 meg at best should be what you'll need.
