I cannot seem to grasp ANYTHING about networking, so I'm going to just buy a LONG FireWire cable and use that for networking. So, I am offering my 3 week old router and notebook WAN card. They work very well and are VERY fast, however I just can't figure out how to set things up.

I am willing to part with these for a good deal. Make me a fair offer via email: lwren@woh.rr.com or by PMing me. I still have ALL boxes and ALL manuals and ALL cables for everything. Obviously, you'll receive them all. Thank you. :)

Thanks!

edit: Here are some links to see some price comparisons for these two products. Hopefully this will guide you a bit:

Don't give up so easy ... they really are not that hard to setup. You could call Linksys ... they are very helpful in walking you through the setup.

Hey man. Thanks for the help, but I really don't have the time, nor the patience to spend all this time working on them. I have so much other stuff that I do on the computers that it isn't worth it. I figure that I only use the notebook computer on the homework for about an hour each week anyway, so it would be worth just selling them and using a long FireWire cable.

Thanks again for the thoughts. Let me know if you know anyone that could use these. I added some links above for some price comparisons. :)

Not a problem ...

I found that the Linksys router was the EASIEST to set up. I do not have a wireless ... but do have a LinkSys BEFSR41. All I had to do was power everything down. I then connected the router to the modem and the 2 computers to the router. Starting with the modem first ... I turned it on. Next I turned on the router. Then I turned on what was the host computer ... let it do its thing ... and finally turned on the second computer and let it do its thing. WALLA! I was surfing the internet. It pretty much sets up itself.

Not trying to talk you into it if you do not want to use it.

I will keep an ear open for anyone looking for one of these.

Thanks man.

Yeah, I did that and I got two of those "network not connected" icons in my taskbar. And that was after I thought I fixed it. :p

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts. If you find someone, let me know!

Night.

Well, I think I have someone who wants the router/WA point.

Anyone interested in the access card for a notebook?

To bad it doesnt support Windows XP or I would make an offer on it. I bought 3 3Com brand cards off the internet (used) for my 2 laptops only to find out they arent usable as my laptops have XP installed..maybe I could use them as coasters..ugh.
