This might be a question for the hardware section, but I'm assuming you cable forum guys might have some input too ! I recently updated my computer with a 2.4 P4 and a ECS P4S5A/DX and since it has an onboard LAN, I didn't use my other card. Now my cablew connection with Charter seems hang a little on certain web site.

What do you think of onboard network chips ?

Usually not a problem with them. They're often Intel based (Pro 100), 3COM based (9XX series like 918), which are fantastic. Some lower end mobo's will have...ugh...Realtek...which is, eh. But for broadband, you're not running a server or anything with a high load...even a basic sub-20 dollar NIC should do the job OK.

Try updating the drivers for it?

Isolating on it's own IRQ?

What kind of card did you have before? Can you install it...do some back-to-back comparisons? Perhaps it's something else in the new system affecting it, which would affect both cards.

I talked with Charter last night and I guessthey were having a packet loss problem in S. Minnesota for the last day or two. It seems to have fixed itself. The main reason I asked is if they do get to be a pain, I can put in my trusty card and disable the onboard one in the BIOS.

Thanks !
