Hi!! I use the free version of AVG, of which I find excellent. Just one thing I noticed 'the scheduled download of update files from internet' doesn't always come on at the set time.
I do frequently update manually but 'am on a certain time often & wondered why it didn't always come on ?
Does anyone else experience this ? Is it a 'Free' thing ?
Any help is appreciated !

Hi joe2cool
Others may have a more definite response to your concerns, however, one of my 'prime directives' when it comes to letting programs automatically access the net for updates, is NO.
I want to control and know what comes in and what goes out.....I trust no application...not even AVG or Norton.
Hence I have firewall(s) and pop up stoppers....
So why yours doesn't work, croc will be along shortly and he will surely answer you, but I will not do any updates in the background.
Well here's my thorts and I hope they help you understand AVG a bit better.
Firstly, you are manually updating AVG regularly.
In Control Center, open the Update Manager and see how many days the database is set at before an update is allowed. Default is 14 days.
If you are manually updating AVG at a more regular rate than the settings in Update Manager (and I think you are because the updates are more frequent now) Auto Updating will not work.
If you want to test this, set your update Manager to a '1 day' update check. It will work.
Secondly, I am with Fred on auto updating. It can be annoying when you are in the middle of something and the scheduled update check kicks in. Scheduled scans are equally as annoying.
See how you go. Post if there are hassles or this theory of mine didn't work.
Croc.
