hey people... I just wanted to know if there was any stooopid M$ default setting that disconnects your connection if you're idle too long. Apart from my cable co being the problem [most likely] i wanted to make sure first... I leave my computer on downloadin/uploadin overnight and usually in the morning the connection has dropped. I'm on 1024/256 cable with ntl in the UK [and apparantly running through trans. cache!]

I'm hoping that there is some setting which disconnects me if I'm left idle for too long... thanks

steve.

Do you have a firewall that might be cutting you off?

i have a firewall but it ain't cutting me off. As I say, t's only when the computer seems to be left idle for long amounts of time

thanks

There is no "disconnect after xxx amout of time" in windows. You may be hitting an idle timer with your ISP
