But i gotta bow out of the folding. I only have this one rig and i've already fried a couple of components. It's really hard for me to keep replacing parts with my limited budget. To top that off, my dang electric bills never go down so i'm gonna take a break for a while and do other things with my rig. I'll build another rig strictly for folding. I hope my 400 WU's count for something. This is not a permanent goodbye, just an undetermine rest period.

Don't worry guyz, i'll be back, i just wanna have some fun with my new rig and not make it a workhorse.

Ken, you can change my custom title if you like to something else. I dunno what, but i'm sure you have something creative ;)

I'll still be rooting for you guyz! Fold On !!

Just as I crossed over the 3,000 milestone, I had to yank 3x P4 units from my farm. Peaked at 16 units last week! Hope to hold at a dozen for another month til the farm shrinks again.

I can understand the electricity bill part, but how do you fry components? I don't think I ever had a computer failure in 20 years other than hard disks just wearing out. Do you overclock the things so high that they smoke?

Not really, but i have this uncanny knack to kill parts. My guess is i'm cursed.

I know what you mean with cursed. My hard disks normally die within 11 - 13 months, so half of them get replaced under warrenty, the other half I got to finance myself, but they just don't seem to last. I just swapped to the IBM 60 and 80 GB models and have not had them for a year yet, but I am sure they will do the same for me. I can already hear one of them making strange internal grinding sounds occasionally, so it will be just a matter of time. Ever since capacity exceeded 4GB no disk has survived with me for more than 13 months.

WoW. Well, i'll admit i'm to blame for killing my new Abit board in 2 months, but at the same time both my new Maxtor 40 gigrs died and my new Allied 400w took a dive also.

I can't RMA the HD's cuz i bought them from someone else and the mobo was payment for building a rig for a client. The psu i got from a friend in florida, but i modded it to get better airflow so the warranty went out the window on that. I had to actually sacrifice some funds to build this rig.

I've lost a couple of IBM's myself. Fortunately both were under warrany and were replaced free. Sorry to see you leave LT, but I understand electric bills also. The summer rates in CA are tiered with each tier having higher rates. My last 3 months have been in the third tier, ouch.

Well... I just lost a 650. Should I buy another computer or something nice for the wife?

If it is your only computer, I guess you need a computer, but if you got others already anyway, concentrate on the wife.
