Could any of you be so kind as to help me decide which is better for high speed access since I'm completely ignorant on this subject.

I have an internet company and recently purchased a building to house it, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Obviously, I need high speed access and as luck would have it, there is no cable to this location (unless I want to $50K). The phone company doesn't provide high speed access either.

Am I stuck with getting Earthlink's 2-way satellite? I can always upload from home on Cox cable, so maybe I don't even need 2 way, just 1 way?

Is this my only option for high speed ?

I would appreciate the insight and experience you guys have...sorry to seem like a dumb girl but in this matter I am!

Welcome to Speedguide:D, could you be a little clearer with your question? You said you don't have cable internet but you can upload from Cox? Please elaborate. :) ;)

Thank you!
I'm sorry that part wasn't clear. Unfortunately, this is a fairly new business park and Cox Cable isn't wired for that particular area. They would need several more businesses to request it before they will come. One business owner said he's been waiting for 3 years. Now, if you want to pay Cox $50K, they'll bring it in. (Not an option).

But since I have Cox at home, I can always upload from home since uploading isn't the most important aspect. I need the download speed to be fast.

Thank you -

It looks like satellite may be your only option for the time being, the speed is fine but the latency is high (that only matters allot if you are a gamer). I would suggest go with satellite for now until Cox is available.:D ;)

Id suggest direcway.com. they operate the system that earthlink uses and last I looked 10 bucks a month cheaper. and according to a rep I talked to one less hop each direction normally. Its been pretty fast compared to the company earthlink bought out, pegasus. average 300k faster and the latency is cut in half. Look on e-bay for dish and modems usually alot cheaper if you want to buy outright. our speed differences could be the result of the software upgrade that happened as we were changing companies.

I still like the cable I have at home much better but our shop is in the rural area west of me and no anything, wireless reaches half a mile away... (by the way, have you checked into wireless, I believe its in the Vegas area...)

Thank you!

I'll check it out for sure and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. ( I love this message board email notifications!)
Now, do you really think buying equipment on ebay is the route to go? Since most sellers have absolutely no warranty or return policy? Where else would one buy equipment? I've only had about a 50% good experience from buying on ebay. (Surprisingly, I used to be a gold power seller until the website took off - but hate buying on ebay!)

Thanks again for all you help.
