Hi,

I recently moved to IL from NY. In NY I had cable service from Cablevision and I retained my Cable modem. I got Cable service from ATT in IL. I asked ATT to use my old cable modem. Technician who came to install the modem, said that my Cable Modem is having a state code set to NY and I cannot use that in IL. I want to know whether it is true or somethin can be done about that code?
My speed is considerably less compared to the speed I used get from Cablevision.

Thanks in Advance.

if it works then it works!

ur service will be slower in IL cuz cablevision is the fastest cable ISP around, period. att is 1500/128 or 256 cablevision is 10000/1000+ and thats no typo!

My main question is about the State code in the modem. Is there anyway I can break the code ?

i'm not familiar with any state code stuff, but it sounds like BS.

It is BS.

There is no such thing.

Sadly, ATT is capped at 2mbit down vs 10mb for OOL.

OOL - Optimum On Line - the name of your ISP when you were in NY.
