I have a wierd problem on my home machine. (XP Home, Service Pack 1)

When I save image files, I can't always see previously saved files from within other applications. For example: I see a picture I like on a web page. I right click-save as "dogvomit" in "My Documents". When I choose to access that picture through Word or Print Shop (etc.), it doesn't show up.

I know it's there, because I can see it using Windows Explorer, or navigating to the file through "My Computer". Heck, I can even open it for editing by double clicking on it.

Additionally, the file won't appear when I'm saving another picture to the same folder. Say I find another picture on another site. I right click-save as "catpuke". The window that opens shows a number of files within the "My Documents" folder, but not the "dogvomit" picture I just saved. As a test, I tried to save a picture with the same file name as one I knew to be in the same folder. It let me!!

What the heck???

So good to see members so interested in their pets' bodily fluids...:D

Are they the same file type - gif, jpg, etc? When you try and open the file using your app are you changing the "files of type" field to "any"?

I've only noticed it with JPEG's.

Yes, the files of type is set to any. In fact I can see many pictures just fine, but not the ones saved by "right click-save as". This makes me wonder if its an IE issue???

You might have to manually type ".jpg" at the end of the filename when you save it.

good to know!

can I just say that by the title of this post, I thought this was dealing with your 'image' because you were running winxp.

let me jsut say, you're only a loser if you use winME. Winxp users are fine.
