fonts

i know this is prolly a stupid question but i know nothing about word processing & stuff like this. my wife downloaded a bunch of font packages. how does she get them to where she can use them in word documents ? ? ?

I wasn't aware you just put them into that folder, Croc?

I've always done it this way...

Control Panel/Fonts/Select the Menu drop down list...select install new font.

Just d/loaded some and the instructions were as you said and I copied them below.

1. Open the Windows Control Panel
(» START » SETTINGS » CONTROL PANEL)
2. Double click on the "Fonts" icon in the Control Panel
(a new window should open and you should see all the installed fonts on your system)
3. Click on the "File" menu and select "Install New Fonts"
(a new window "Add Fonts" should pop up.
4. Locate the folder on your harddrive containing the extracted fonts from step 1
5. Double Click on the font file you wish to install and click on the "OK" button
Your font should now be installed and available to all applications using fonts, such as MS Word or PhotoShop.

I will check the method I posted with them and get back.

You can install Fonts 2 ways, either use the control panel Fonts applet or just put the Fonts in the Fonts folder in windows.

Best to use control panel otherwise some systems and applications will require a reboot in order to recognize the new fonts placed in the Fonts folder.
