I know it wont make that that big of a difference but I am wondering if clients would get better performance overall ( or sliiightly better pings)under a severe load if the T1 went straight into the NIC instead of passing through a router including me on LAN to it and install a 2nd NIC for me and others to enter on LAN instead.

I have read some games for some reason do not like using 2 nics in that kind of setup.

I notice when I remove the router (Nexland pro 800) it seems a bit faster on response times overall (surfing/gaming) to me so how much more efficient can it be under a full load of clients on a game? (router vers straight shot)

All this machine is for is hosting games anyway. :)
I really do not need a firewall if somebody wants to hack my game server go for it  :p .

I guess the answer you're looking for is "yes".

In your case the theory is right, and the problem is the router.
Basicly, you have a low end (can't help the price you paid) router designed for the home and small office.
If you want your server to work preally like it should, you need 2 things, a REAL router with proper buffers and memory for buffers and a dedicated server.
Anything else and you have to make compromises, such as you are seeing now.

Settle for what you have, it is honestly the best you will do for the money UNLESS you have some way of generating funding by taking the next step up to dedicated gear.

I wouldn't let the game server stay open though, as the rest of the LAN and the 'net can be reached from it, only this time it will be from your IP, rather than a hacks.
Why ask for trouble, eh?
