I ordered the CD-Rom with XP SP1 on it from Microsoft. Got it yesterday and decided to install it. Ran it on my wifes computer and everything seemed to go perfectly. HaHa.

Then ran it on my main computer and got an error, "Access denied". No other explaination, nothing, but when I clicked on ok it seemed to be restoring my files. Everything seemed restored and was running alright. Ha Ha.

My monitoring program was giving me information on my folding, but as 3-4 hours remained before my next WU was scheduled to be completed I didn't pay too much attention to it. But as time passed I noticed that my wifes computer wasn't progressing. Went over and checked and the program I had been using to start the folding upon reboot hadn't started the computer folding. I tried everything to get it back working but it wouldn't start. So I had to start it folding myself. Lost about 4 hours worth.

Took awhile for it to sink in, but I though to check my computer as the same program was susposed to be running there. Lost another 6 hours. This brought it up to bedtime so figured I could go to bed and not worry. HeHe

Got out here this morning and found that SP1 trashed my LAN and 3 computers had been trying from 6-9 hours to send results and start another WU.

Wound up having to format my C: drive and reload everything before I could get back up. Haven't had a WU be automatically sent yet, but I'm hoping it works.

Guess next week I'll contact Microsoft and see what the problem(s) are. Won't be able to do it until then because I've got an operation scheduled which will keep me in bed for a few days.

See ya all soon;

Rick

I also had some problems when I installed SP1 on my main computer. It locked up and all the machines in my farm were idle about 12 hours because they were unable to return the finished work. I uninstalled it and have had no problems since. I hope your operation goes well for you. Take care of yourself.

Wow, surprised to see issues with SP1..hadn't had any problems myself on the few I put it on.

Good luck with your OP Rick...

Ive been lucky with updates so far,no problems to speak of...I have my computer apart so much tinkering with it I usually takes a day just to bust out a single WU...
