Problem: At any point in the game it locks up and starts squeaking, I still here the engines but it does the squeaking noise.




I've reinstalled it 3 times already, with no antivirus running and no other programs running.

Ideas ??

Squeeking from your speakers?
Like your sound system is hosing up?
Latest sound card drivers?
Latest Direct X?
Latest patch for MSCF2?

I wish I could help, but my game pc just started doing me that. Sometimes I would get wierd colors too. At this point I just decided to reformat. I don't care much for doing that but I wanted to install my new, legit copy of XP. The copy I had was borrowed from work along with the key.

YOSC, I'll try new SC drivers first. I looked for a CFS 2 patch and couldn't find one, is there one ??

There are no patches for CFS2. Sounds to me more like a video problem but...

I think mybe my direct x was hosed, I'm red/ling it and will let you know if it worked.

hell, I reinstalled DX8 and video drivers and sound drivers, it still locks up and makes the squeaking noise over the engine noise.

I don't wanna format but it looks like that's what's gotta be done.

Stu, I hate formatting to fix a problem too, but I tried all kinds of things to fix the problem and couldn't. I tried for days, new drivers, different refresh rates. I think it was something to do with my Audigy sound card and VIA chipset. I went back to an older set of the 4in1's, it cured it a little bit but my pc was never the same.

I'm using the latest 4in1's. Everything seems OK but I haven't installed any games yet. I want to run it for a couple of days to see if any problems pop up first.

cool, let me knopw when you get it installed if there are any problems or not. I really like playing the game but not for upto 3 min. at a time.

Well, I reformatted and it's still doing the same thing.

Anymore ideas ??

I'm using the 40.41's from nvidia and the 4.24's from VIA and the newest drivers for my audigy.

I wish I could give you more info, but I don't know what the hell is up either.

You could look around here (http://www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs2/support.asp)some and see if something helps.

So you didn't get yours fixed either ?? I couldn't find anyhting on any of M$'s websites.

I'm going to try new joystick drivers, that's the only thing left to change.

well I can't get it fixed, I've tried everything 5 times or more, I even tried the application compatability thing in 2k, still no work. The only thing left to try again is diff. joystick drivers, I have the logitech wingman attack and the only drivers they have on the site are for the wingman attack 2. It's gotta be the drivers. I'm getting a new joystick next week.

hi i got bf 1942 it will do the same thing .i turned down the hardware acceleration works fine now.hope it works for you

I've done everything, even turned off hardware acceleration, still no good. Installed XP and got a new joystick(thinking maybe it was drivers), still no good.

This game hates me.



It makes me not even want to by CFS 3, how will I know if it will work or be another waste of money like this one is.
