Are occasional freezes/disconnects common with wireless LAN's? Using Linksys equipment.
Do you have a Linksys PC card?

Start thinking about interference....look for patterns....you disconnect/freeze when something gets used/turned on? Cordless phones? Microwave?
Can you change the location of the WAPPY? Raise, lower, relocate, change direction.
Although by the book you can mix brands of access points with NICs...as long as the type is the same, B, A, etc....sometimes some brands don't work together nicely.

All my components are Linksys, Router,WAP, and PC Card in Laptop.
Really can`t move the WAP around.
What model and version of WAP and NICs do you have? Do you know the firmware version currently installed on the WAP?

WAP11 and WPC11. All firmware up to date. Not a big problem with disconnects, just seeing if anyone else has any occasionally.
No- I don't have any problems- but I USED to. That's why I asked you about versions and firmware.
I own an older WAP11 ver.1.1, and an old WPC11 ver 1 card. I've also installed lots of ver 2 WAPs, ver 3 NICs, and a couple BEFW11S4's. So I have done a bit with them.
Post the info. if you'd like.

Begining to think it is a location problem. I have been using laptop in different locations around the house (and out of house) and have certain areas that work great while others don`t do as well.
Good old line of sight !
As always, thanks to all who replied................
I've had horrible luck with the Linksys PC cards, even the V2s. I get a horrible signal just a few feet away and can't go more than about 30 feet without total disconnection. I went with an Orinoco card and it was twice as much (if not more) better than the Linksys.
