ntl set top box

i have just got a router and i cannot get it working with my ntl set top box i would be very greatful if any1 could tell me why it does not work and how to fix the problem

Have you used checked on the rear of your set top box to see what type of cable is needed? It will specify crossover on not. What about the cables from the router to the computers? Tried straight or crossover? Can you connect without the router?

yes i can connect without the router,and i have tried different types of cable(stright and crossover)and it still does not work
