The people were teleporting around and around AND they were shooting (!?) at the same time.. They were fast.. and jumpy.. and holy hell are they harder than ANY bots.

Advice.. tips.. anything.. HELP!

like i said in unreal tournament and now im gonna waste my breath and say again in UT2k3..these games were plainly put..made for newbies...these games take little to no skill to kill someone compared to the original Unreal which took so much skill a lot of people just gave up playing it...but when they gayed up the flak cannon to make it a cluster *uck of gayness , newbies bought this game..began to play it..and lookey here..i can trans and run like a puss...woohoo!!! try and catch me..im a newb..look at me ...how gay..just plain ol gay.

i will never buy or even play this game....cuz for 1 its full of BS..they never will fix the flak or trans..the only way to fix them is to take them out. sigh

sounds like another person whining cuz they cant fight players using teh translocator a ton.

flak canon isnt all that great alone, and it has improved in ut2003, more wide and random in its shots.

I don't like the transloc either, but it's just personal preference.

Remember if you shoot there trans after they have thrown it, and they try and trans to it = death. I've gotten decent at using the shield gun primary to defend against transrunners in bombing run. You know where they are going so get ahead of them in the choke point going into the goal room and wait with shield gun ready. obviously rockets work too but I leave those to YoS :D

translocator is used by hitting your q key, you throw the translocator "puck" and then fire to "warp" (the flashes you see) to where the puck is. throw, warp, throw, warp repeat is what were talking about. If you do it right from start of a round to scoring can be done in about 11 seconds. SOme people consider it cheap, others don't like so they don't use it, and there are others who consider it cheating and whine about it because they can't stop people from doing it.

Translocator is very useful to get to places you can't normally jump to or say throw the locator near your base and head on offense so you can warp back to it in an instant if you need to. It also now has a camera feature for spying around where you throw the locator. play around with it in instant action.

Well, take that translocator out of the game and add the Shockrifle only mutator (1 shot, 1 kill). Now see how easy ctf would be? Instagib is a team game, you won't get far playing solo.

As far as the translocator it has gotten better since UT, Atleast in UT2003 it shows a trail of were the translocator is headed. I have killed several people in midair after they have tried to translocate.... it just takes some practice and skill;)

in case you didn't know, they have put a "charge" delay in the transloc so it's not quite as bad as it was in UT1

Well lemme explain somethin to you...go out to EB or something pay 5 bucks for a used copy of unreal, and then you can waltz back on this forum in all your knowledge of gaming, and then i wanna see you say that UT2k3 takes more skill than unreal. like i said in my post...the first person shooters are gettin worse by the second...all the skill is going out of them...like i said BEFORE...take the trans out and the skill level in the game of having to run ****GASP...did he say run instead of transing the entire map?!?!?!**** yea i said it alright...take it out..and the skill level it would go out the roof...having to walk/run the entire map and having the skill and ability to enter and fight your way into the enemy base instead of transing like a newbie right past a man with a gun would take so much for skill and you know it.:D

i played the original Unreal, never owned a copy but played it a friends dorm when i'd go up there. then the UTdemo came out and i got it then got UT when the demo servers were gone and now have the UT2k3 demo and if i dont lose my job i'll buy teh game! i have enjoyed every verion of the Unreal series.

Thats the best advice I have seen. Hard to tell someone how to get better. Just play with people better than you a lot.

FYI- I have found that practicing against the bots doesn NOT help all that much. Can help with your aim but that will only get you so far. The bots don't jump like most players.

yea sorry paft...noevo is right...the only way to get better in a first person shooter is to get ur ass kicked over and over again until you learn to keep up...

like when i took people under my wing and trained them in UT...i just kicked the crap oughta em day after day..but..i mean you dont take it easy on someone.. or esle they will never learn...just make sure you find veterans of UT and unreal that will teach you how to compete..and youll find yourself improving so fast man. good luck.

I never got into any of the Unreal's. Are they really that good? I'm a little slow with certain FPS's. I miss the old Doom & Quake I stuff.. I'm all about a good single player FPS.. The multiplayer is only fun to me for about 10 -15 minutes and then I lose interest. I need to play people in the same room as me in order to enjoy it more. I guess thats what my Xbox is for. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the last good one I played. I'm playing the original Half Life right now for the first time. Graphics are obviously somewhat primitive but its keeping my interest; although, I'm not very impressed with the overall Half Life engine so far. Is Unreal better than Half Life? Which versions of Unreal have good single-player value? I might have to give 'em a shot after I finish these last couple of levels on Half Life.

koldchillah33, sounds like you may be better off waiting for Unreal2 (the single player game) instead of taking a shot at Unreal Tournament, which has single player somewhat but it's just intended to get you up to speed on the game types and get you ready to play multi.

Unreal2 will have more story. the engine is awesome though.

yeah, that sounds cool.. I'll definitely wait till Unreal2 comes out. I mean, I like Quake 3 for graphics and its fun when my friends come over and we LAN battle for an hour or so, but I just get bored playing against people that I can't cuss at, talk trash with, and laugh with IN PERSON... nah mean? The online multiplayer concept is really cool.. just not for me.
