View Full Version : Redhat or Mandrake Linux?
I m a newb to Linux and just planning to install it and try it out since I have to use my school computers which is running under Linux environment. Which one will be better? And also I m currently getting internet connection from a home network sharing (host is Win ME), will i still be able to set it up in Linux so that i can still use the ICS?

I'm using Red Hat though Mandrake is great too. Red Hat is the most distributed version, which was my reason for choosing it. As for networks I'm hooked up to a host with xp-pro and I had no problems. Not sure about win-me though. :)

Alright, thanks. Also one more question, do i need to burn the CD images to make it bootable (download from Mandrake site) or it's ok without making it bootable by just burning the ISO?

makes bootable if you burn iso as a cd image.. but why Mandrake, why redhat.. I'll admit I thought Mandrake was really cool, redhat gave me many problems.. But, Debian, Debian is so much better.. Sure compiling the kernel for Debian is quite a task but Debian Linux has so much more to offer.
Many others will agree. Its much more stable, and has more packages. and extras... Get Debian 3.0, you won't be disappointed.
