We are installing a keyboard on my girlfriend's computer. We got the keyboard from CompUSA. It is a multimedia type. It came with an installation disk. Before it would even take us to the installation part it came up saying it was missing the following MFC30.DLL. We went on the Internet and found it and downloaded it and installed it in the System 32 folder. We then went through the installation and it went fine. Problem is the buttons do not work according to what is on them. I installed one of these keyboards on my computer (I am running ME) and it worked fine. Over the weekend I installed one on her Mom's computer and had the same trouble. I went online to see if their was any updated drivers and lo and behold there was. I downloaded the driver and installed it and the keyboard worked fine. Her Mom and my girlfriend are both running XP Home Version. I did the exact same thing tonight as I did with her Mom's and it still will not work. On reboot we get the following message: missing file \\.\DVHookKD.VxD. I have to assume that this has something to do with the keyboard because without it installed ... we do not get the message. We went on the internet to see if by chance we could find this ... but no luck. I did go to the site to see if the company had an email address to write to them to see if they had any idea of what we should do ... but they did not.

Any thoughts?

DvhookKD eh...I'm assuming that the install was clean, so go here http://www.senorg.hu/driver/mediakey/regi/ get the file and stick it you know where. Anything VXD missing should cause some concern. Was a key deleted somehow? Regardless..Good Luck. :D

Not trying to be smart ... but I do not know where to stick it .... could you explain where I would put it?

Thank you for the link to it. I downloaded it and will wait to hear from you ... if you are able to tell me where.

Just a guess...

Most vxd files go into the system directory. If you put it there it should work, since the system dir is on the 'path'
