View Full Version : Linux Install question
I would like to start playing around with it but the only box I have that I can install it on is a 133mhz laptop with something like a 2gig HDD and 64mb ram.
Is it possible on something that small and slow?
That box should do just fine. Being older is a bonus. Linux hasn't got drivers for a lot of new hardware yet.
Laptops can be a little bit tricky, once you pick a distro (like Debian :D) subscribe to one of their mailling list and inquire about installation techniques and any possible difficulties that you migh incounter.
Norm, Linux is just as fast, if not faster in supporting new hardware as windows. The only devices that do not work well with Linux are devices that where designed for Windows and only windows. (things like MP3 players, USB cameras, Winmodems, WinNICs, etc..... )

You might want to have a look at Linux on Laptops (http://www.linux-laptop.net/) and see if anyone has managed to install linux on the make and model of laptop you have.
Stu: Thanks, that was a great site.
