get a good sound card and speakers :D

Just remember, keep your windows volume at no more than half way and adjust everything else from there with your speakers. Once you get windows volume above half way you can get some distortion or other unwanted noises. good for all OS's obviously.

thanks guys but i want to know how to set xp to give the best performance when recording/editing audio.

stuff like:

services/dma/swap file/cpu settings and such.
