Scan Disk Help

I know this may not be the place to ask but I am stuck.My PC crashed yet Scan Disk just flashed up but never run?
any ideas how to fix this guys?

Try booting into safe mode and running scan disk.:)

Errr on re-reading my post it was not very clear.what I am trying to do is if the PC crashes scanning with a blue screen does not work?
it just flashes up quick and windows loads?
Can it be re-installed if so how?
