Here i did the analyzer thing

TCP properties for IP = xx.xxx.xx.xxx (ipxx-xxx-xx-xxx.nc.hr.cox.net)
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 113 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Try settings in help thread below, then try the DOS speedtest or the 64Meg download, not the little 3MB online burst test:)

Chillinhh we went over this before, first try power cycling your modem and set your NIC duplex mode properly. You also might have a line problem since your connection is so inconsistant, you might call Cox and have them check it out.

;) :D

ok how do i set my nic duplex with windows 2000 still getting used to it. Sorry to be so hard to work with.

Lobo

For CABLE MODEM only, NOT DSL

RIGHT click the connection icon on desktop (Properties or Connections) and selecting Properties.
If this is an ethernet connection, and if your cable modem's ethernet interface is not specifically listed as capable of full-duplex working (see list), click the button Configure below the adapter name.
Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front:
In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT.
In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or (b) at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI.
Click OK to exit the Adapter settings.
Click OK to exit the Connection properties.
Close the Network and Dial-up Connections window.

In IE, go to Tools, internet options, connection tab at top, LAN settings at bottom, nothing should be checked in this box, NOTHING, No auto detect, no proxy, no automatic configuration script, NOTHING, REBOOT:)

Well i dont think its the isp because im getting around 800-1036 kbps and last time when i had windows 98 i just tweaked up and got up to 3146kbps which was mostly what i got at real busy times it was 2882 but i think that i just havent found the right tweak yet but i did the best with dr.tweaks settings.

deleted_acct
09-10-02, 01:47 PM
Should i call my isp or just keep trying to find the right tweak?

Both:)

deleted_acct
09-10-02, 02:18 PM
well im getting around 1757 with dr.tweaks settings but it should be better than that and the online support chat for cox wont work because this error keeps coming up saying that there was an error and that it was gonna restart internet explorer so im gonna go get the phone book and call cox. But i would think that the speeds would be lower than this if it was something wrong with the line or something.

For CABLE MODEM only, NOT DSL

Cox supports 10mb half duplex mode, it is possible to have 6-7ms delays and data collisions if the duplex mode is set improperly, did you reboot after you changed the setting? If auto works best for you then stick with it.:) ;)

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize & TcpWindowSize (TCP/IP parameters) must be the same size..... that is the value the TCP/IP Analyzer test shows, not DefaultReceiveWindow which is an AFD parameter.:)
